* A more complex flavour profile

Is Chak Hao Black Rice healthy?

Chak Hao is traditionally valued for its fibre, antioxidant content, and naturally occurring plant compounds associated with pigmented rice varieties.

How should I cook Chak Hao Black Rice?

Rinse thoroughly and soak for a few hours before cooking. It generally requires more water and a longer cooking time than white rice.

What dishes can I make with Chak Hao?

You can use it for:

* Rice bowls

* Salads
* Asian-style meals
* Desserts

Is Chak Hao traditionally consumed in Manipur?

Yes. Chak Hao has been an important part of Manipuri cuisine and food culture for generations.

Is the rice gluten-free?

Yes. Black rice is naturally gluten-free.

Why does the cooked rice turn deep purple?

During cooking, the natural anthocyanin pigments release into the water, giving the rice its signature rich purple hue.

Can Chak Hao be used in desserts?

Absolutely. It is traditionally used in desserts and puddings due to its naturally sweet and aromatic profile.

Does the rice need soaking?

Soaking is recommended for improved texture, even cooking, and reduced cooking time.
